What is Plywood?

Plywood is a manufactured wood product made by gluing together thin layers, or “plies,” of wood veneer. The layers are arranged with the grain of each layer perpendicular to the one below it, which enhances strength and stability. This cross-grain construction reduces the risk of warping, shrinking, and expanding, making plywood a reliable material for various applications.

It comes in different grades and thicknesses and is commonly used in construction, furniture making, cabinetry, and flooring. Plywood can also be treated for moisture resistance or fire resistance, depending on its intended use. Popular types include hardwood plywood, softwood plywood, and specialty plywood like marine or structural plywood.
